ANDO RISKS FINE AFTER ACT OF SPORTSMANSHIP

GARY ANDERSON risked landing himself in hot water after a bizarre act of sportsmanship at Players Championship 26.

‘The Flying Scotsman’ battled his way to the semi-finals of the ProTour event in Hildesheim before his run was halted by Gian van Veen in a 7-4 defeat.

But it was Anderson’s fiery last-16 clash with Callan Rydz that stole the headlines.

The World No.12 was left fuming at noise coming from behind the streaming booth and was even heard snapping: “We’re playing darts here — f*** off.”

Moments later, the two-time World Champion risked a possible fine after deliberately busting his score as a sporting gesture, having seen Rydz distracted on his throw.

Rydz had just missed double 20 when the disruption struck, and Anderson — sitting on 40 — opted to smack the bull instead, effectively gifting ‘The Riot’ the leg and a 4-3 lead.

Ando eventually steadied himself to claim a 6-4 victory over the Geordie and book his spot in the quarters.

But the 53-year-old could yet face action from the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA), with some fans pointing out that he technically “wasn’t playing to the best of his ability” when giving up the leg.
