BUNTING TARGETS BIG FINISH TO SAVE PREMIER LEAGUE HOPES

30/04/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

STEPHEN BUNTING admits he must finish with a “bang” to keep his Premier League play-off hopes alive.

The world No9 sits seventh in the table — despite winning Night Four earlier in the campaign — and is now seven points adrift of the top four after suffering back-to-back quarter-final exits.

The Liverpudlian is desperate to avoid another last-place finish, having ended bottom of the pile in both of his previous outings in 2015 and 2025.

Bunting knows the equation is simple heading into Night 13 in Aberdeen, where he faces Gerwyn Price.

He told Oche180: “There are four nights left and I need to win a minimum of two. So, I have set my sights really high. I want to finish on a bit of a bang, to be honest.

“Hopefully I can start it in Aberdeen. I know what I need to do. I played Gerwyn Price here last year and I was able to win.

“Let’s start with that game and not look too far forward. It’s all eyes on Price, to be honest. Hopefully I can produce the goods and have a really good night tomorrow.”

Bunting also enjoyed a surreal off-stage moment after being invited to join Coventry City’s promotion party.

The former Masters champ led the dressing-room singalong of his walk-on track Titanium following their 3-1 win over Wrexham.

The link-up came after Coventry midfielder Jack Rudoni was spotted singing the tune on TikTok during celebrations after their spot in the Premier League was sealed at Blackburn.

He added: “Obviously Liverpool’s season has not gone too well, so it was nice to see someone else lift the trophy, to be honest.

“That all came about when one of the lads who plays for Coventry literally was doing my walk-out on the team bus.

“It was nice to hook up with them and Coventry wanted me to come down and surprise the lads.

“I obliged and it was a great day. It was nice to meet Frank Lampard and Tom Grennan as well.”
