BURNETT BAFFLES FANS WITH BIZARRE ON-STAGE ANTICS

RICHIE BURNETT left fans baffled after KISSING a speaker and using a wall as a back scratcher during a bizarre on-stage moment.

The legendary thrower was in action for Team Wales alongside Kurt Parry at the MODUS Super Series international tournament.

The pair impressed as they topped Group A with 10 wins from 15 matches to leave themselves in a strong position in the competition.

But it was Burnett’s strange antics during a clash with Belgium that grabbed attention from the event.

The Prince of Wales was seen heading to the side of the stage where he planted a kiss on a speaker mid-match.

Burnett then walked off the stage and used a wall to his left to scratch his back.

When quizzed on his antics, Burnett told Modus: “I have absolutely no idea to be honest with you. Itchy fingers you know. I am going to have my haircut tomorrow.”

Burnett then revealed there was a simple reason behind his brief trip off the oche.

He added: “That was my itchy back. I didn’t want to knock the speaker over so I went over to the corner of the wall.”

Burnett won the Lakeside World Championship in 1995 and was once ranked world number one.

The 59-year-old enjoyed immediate success on the PDC Tour as he reached the final of the World Matchplay in 2001 before being beaten by Phil Taylor.

Burnett was banned for 18 months after UK Anti-Doping confirmed in October 2015 that he had tested positive for cocaine at the Grand Slam of Darts Qualifier in November 2014.

But he returned to competition in late 2016, claiming two Challenge Tour titles and regaining his Tour Card the following year.

In 2023, Burnett enjoyed his strongest televised performance in years, advancing to the quarter-finals of the UK Open.
