DAVE CHISNALL has hit back to criticism from a darts fan who accused him of being “drunk” during a recent match.

World No.10 Chisnall has been struggling for form and has won just two of his last seven matches.

‘Chizzy’ exited the second round of the Players Championship 11 earlier this week after losing to Ryan Meikle in Leicester.

Six-time major finalist Chisnall failed to bounce back against Micky Mansell and suffered a 6-5 defeat the following day.

The St Helens ace faced unnecessary criticism on social media following his difficult stint at the oche.

A user of X known as DCDritsch90 slammed Chisnall for his performance.

He wrote: “I can shoot better darts than Dave Chisnall in his current form and I’ve never played a day in my life. Imagine being a pro dart player and throwing a total score between 20 and 50 multiple times in a single match. Is he drunk?”

Chisnall sarcastically responded: “Gonna start shooting darts instead of chucking them and see if I end up doing any better.”

Former World Championship semi-finalist Chsinall has spoken openly about how he is currently at the heart of experimenting with his game in the hope of finding some minor adjustments which can help him improve his arsenal.

Speaking last month, he said: “It’s hard to explain, but the first dart is going too high, and I have to switch.

“I’ve tried messing around with my throw, but it doesn’t work. The weird thing is, I end up seeing the bottom of my flight when I hold the dart.

“It catches the corner of my eye and I end up losing concentration.

“Only I know how to throw my darts and I will just have to work on and find a way of fixing.

“I do think my game is in good nick, especially when the first dart goes into Treble 20, it’s just getting that more regular and hitting doubles more often when it matters”

The 44-year-old missed out on this year’s Premier League and has seen his form dip in televised ranking events.

But Chisnall has been the No. 1 ranked player on the PDC ProTour over the last two years.

Since 2023, he has claimed four Players Championship titles and five European tour tournament wins showing the undeniable talent he possesses.
