CRABTREE TRAVELS HALF THE WORLD FOR EUROPEAN DARTS TROPHY

CAM CRABTREE has revealed the wild travel dash that saw him fly halfway across the world to make the European Darts Trophy.
‘Shazam’ was enjoying a holiday in Washington, D.C., America, when he suddenly received the call to replace Jonny Clayton, who had withdrawn from the tournament after the draw had already been completed.
World No.67 Crabtree goes straight into round two of the European Tour event in Göttingen, Germany, where he will face Kevin Doets.
Crabtree had to make a 5000 mile dash on just 24 hours’ notice which included missed flight connections and long waits for luggage before finally arriving in Frankfurt.
He said on X: “Just a quick update — I have finally landed in Germany in Frankfurt.
“I am just waiting for a Bolt to the hotel that should hopefully get me there for about 5pm, which isn’t too bad.
“I might get to nap for half an hour and then head over to the venue. Ten hours from Washington to Istanbul.
“Then I missed my connection, then I waited five hours for a flight to Frankfurt and then that took three hours.
“It took ages for bags to come out but I finally got my bag. It turned up, which I wasn’t sure it would.
“Now I just have to get to the hotel and get prepared for tonight.”
Crabtree had an impressive 2025 campaign making the semi-final of Players Championship 22 and reaching a further two quarter-finals on the floor circuit.
The Croydon thrower also finished top of the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit after claiming five titles during the season.
