VINCENT VAN DER VOORT has fired a warning to Luke Littler and Luke Humphries.

Former UK Open finalist Van der Voort believes the Dutch duo of Danny Noppert and Gian van Veen can cause an upset to red hot favourites England at the World Cup of Darts.

Three-time World Cup winner Michael van Gerwen has opted to go on holiday to Ibiza therefore he misses the tournament which takes place on June 12-15 in Frankfurt.

Van der Voort believes the newly formed Netherlands pairing can beat the two best players on the planet and that team chemistry could be the key.

He said on the Darts Draait podcast: “If both of them play well, they absolutely can beat England.

“It’s all pairs matches, after all, which is different to singles. A strong partnership becomes even more important. Individual talent comes second.

“That’s what determines whether you’re a good team or not. You can’t just assume two good players automatically make a good pair.”

He added: “I really like the World Cup of Darts because you get to see a wide range of countries and players.

“But I’m not exactly excited about Littler and Humphries as a duo. I’m not curious to see what they’ll do.

“You just expect them to win. You hope there are a few countries that can really push them. Because if this is the new standard, it’s going to be very tough for everyone else.

“There aren’t many nations who stand a real chance against them.”

Van Veen is enjoying a breakout season as he won his first senior PDC title at the Players Championship Six where he overcame world No. 1 Humphries 8-3 in the final.

World Youth Champion Van Veen also defeated teen sensation Littler 7-4 in the semi-final of the German Grand Prix last month with a massive 110 average.

‘The Giant’ has the best checkout percentage on tour at 46.79 percent showing his flawless talent on hitting the outer ring.

Whilst Noppert has reached the semi-final of the World Masters and two ProTour events this year.

World No. 17 Noppert is also a major champion, having claimed the UK Open title in 2022.
