EVANS FEELS LIKE ‘REFUGEE’ ON TOUR
24/03/2026 By Aaron Nijjar
RICKY EVANS admits he feels like a “REFUGEE” as the gruelling darts schedule leaves him constantly on the road.
‘Rapid Ricky’ opened up on the toll of life outside the elite, revealing he is barely ever at home as he fights to climb the rankings.
While the likes of Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price enjoy life at the top, Evans says he cannot afford to take time off.
The Kettering thrower is now battling to qualify for every major event hoping his persistence will finally be rewarded.
He said: “I’m knackered. Not in the sense I’m tired, but I’m always in the suitcase. I’m not one of the big top 12 in the world I’m 50 or 49 or whatever I’m nowhere.
“My Mum and Dad must think I’m a refugee or something they must think ‘who are you?’ because I’m never at home!
“The Littler’s the Humphries’ the Gezzy’s I can’t imagine what they’re like because they have their own houses as well. It’s a hard game when you’re travelling.
“If I was in their situation I would pull out but I can’t. I need to get to Ally Pally. I’m in with a chance to get a late run to the World Grand Prix.
“The Matchplay is a bit too far. I need to play events.
“I’ve never missed one event in the 13 years I’ve been a Tour-Card holder so that shows how rubbish I am because I’ve never won one!
“I believe if I miss an event that could be the day I have won one. That is my stupidness for you.”
World No.46 Evans is still waiting for his first PDC title despite reaching SIX ProTour finals and the UK Open semi-finals in 2024.
