GREAVES HAS BIGGER TARGET ON HER BACK

BEAU GREAVES now has a “bigger” target on her back thanks to the media hype.

Women’s world No.1 Greaves’ rise has made her the one everyone wants to beat, with rivals raising their game whenever they draw her.

The Doncaster ace made history, becoming only the second woman to reach the last 16 of a Players Championship event and the first to land a nine-darter on the ProTour this season.

Fellow pro Gemma Hayter believes that spotlight has only increased the pressure but insists Greaves is coping with it brilliantly.

She told Tungsten Tales: “The media attention she gets now, I think it makes her a bigger target, so I think when they draw her they are all up to beat her and I think she deals with that tremendously.

“I don’t think it’s the same [on the Women’s Series] because I think most of the women realise that they’ve probably got no chance of beating her.

“Whereas the men will fancy themselves, so I think it is different in that respect.”

Beau ‘n’ Arrow put together a remarkable 114-match unbeaten run on the PDC Women’s Series, collecting an incredible 17 consecutive titles before the streak was eventually ended by Fallon Sherrock.

Hayter has tipped Greaves to break more records by picking up a maiden ProTour crown.

She added: “I think she is more than capable to do that, she’s so consistent and she’s consistently hitting high averages as well.”

Hayter is an established presence on the Women’s Series, having finished fifth in the Order of Merit last season to earn a place at the World Championship.

The 32-year-old suffered a 3–1 defeat to Josh Rock at Alexandra Palace, but has since built momentum, already securing qualification for the WDF World Championship.
