GREAVES REVEALS HOW SHE CELEBRATED HISTORY-MAKING TRIUMPH

BEAU GREAVES revealed she celebrated her history-making triumph with pizza and a hot chocolate.

Beau n Arrow became the first female player to win a PDC ProTour title after edging out Michael Smith 8-7 in a dramatic Players Championship 11 final to pocket the £15,000 top prize.

The Doncaster star’s route to glory saw her topple major names along the way, beating former world champions Rob Cross in the quarter-finals and Gary Anderson in the semi-finals.

But despite the magnitude of her breakthrough victory, the celebrations were kept simple.

Greaves said: “I did get asked to go to the pub but I said no!

“I’ll be honest I went back to the hotel, I had a slice of pizza and a hot chocolate then went to bed.

“I rang my family and that was good enough for me.”

Proud dad Dave was in tears as he watched his daughter break new barriers in the sport.

Greaves first picked up a dart aged 11 at the Little Plough in Doncaster, where her father was team captain, and it quickly became clear to her family she had something special.

Now, Greaves is taking down the very best in the game after beating Luke Littler last year to reach the final of the World Youth Championship and securing a PDC Tour Card this season.

Dave told the BBC: “She cried her eyes out. She was overjoyed. We were crying. It gets you doesn’t it. It’s your kids.

“It’s time consuming and it’s expensive to get about but it’s all been worth it in the end.

“She’s played all the top players and she’s beat most of them. She beat Luke Littler not long ago and he’s the best thing since sliced bread.

“We thought it was going to happen but we didn’t think it would happen this quickly.

“Her brother was a brilliant chucker, she started watching him and she just picked it up and she was instantly good, you could see.

“My son said to me, ‘Dad you’ve got to watch her, she’s unreal’, so I did and he was right.

“She’s capable of beating anybody, without a doubt.

“She’s the best lady player there’s ever been. They all fear her, they all know how good she is and they don’t want to draw her.”
