HETA: I EXPECT BETTER FROM MYSELF

14/03/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

DAMON HETA admitted he “expects better” of himself after his recent struggles on tour.

World No.19 Heta produced a superb performance to beat Darius Labanauskas 6-3 and storm into the third round of the European Darts Trophy.

‘The Heat’ was in sensational form, averaging 101.42 and landing 50 per cent of his doubles as he snapped a run of five consecutive second-round exits on the European Tour.

Heta believes his recent performances on the circuit had fallen short of his own expectations.

He said: “My European Tour in the last couple of years has not been what I expect.

“I expect better of myself and it hasn’t happened. To get the win today over Darius, he is a class act. He played really well yesterday.

“I put a lot of time and effort in to demand results so for a result to come in today I am absolutely stoked.

“What an amazing crowd. I can entertain all I like but if not for the crowd taking notice and getting involved it means nothing.

“Happy days and hopefully you will see me all day tomorrow.”

The result comes after a difficult spell for the Australian, who suffered a second-round exit at the World Masters before being knocked out in the fourth round of the UK Open.

Heta returns to action on Sunday afternoon when he will face either Cam Crabtree or Kevin Doets for a place in the quarter-finals of the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen, Germany.
