HOOD PRACTISES ON HIS DOOR!

JUSTIN HOOD has revealed he practises with his dartboard hanging on his DOOR.

The World No.50 is taking a no-frills approach away from the big stage, opting for convenience over luxury as he continues to fine-tune his form.

The Somerset thrower has ditched the traditional set-up in favour of a simple over-the-door strap, allowing him to get the hours in without needing a dedicated space at home.

Hood insists the unusual method does the job just fine.

He told talkSPORT: “I do actually. I got the thing that goes over the door now, the strap, and I have got one in the kitchen, it is on the wall, but I don’t use that anymore.

“Yeah, nothing wrong with that. It works. To be fair, after the Worlds I said I would start doing more [practice], but I haven’t really. I have been doing an hour a day.”

Hood has shown his DIY approach is paying off after reaching the quarter-finals of the World Championship and the final of Players Championship Nine.

‘Happy Feet’ fired in an impressive 102.91 average against Chris Dobey in the showpiece but still fell to an 8-4 defeat, denying him a maiden PDC ranking title.

Pundit Chris Murphy believes Hood will now kick on after reaching his first ProTour final in Wigan.

He told the Love the Darts Podcast: “It probably just settles him down for the rest of the season after what he experienced at the World Championship, which is just a level above everything else in terms of attention and exposure.

“He hadn’t really backed that up until now, so I think that settles him down.

“And maybe we’ll start to see a few more runs like that for him, because it is easy to have that and then just kind of disappear.”
