HUMPHRIES ‘AURA’ DIG DISMISSED

LUKE HUMPHRIES being accused of lacking “aura” has been dismissed as a “silly comment”.
World No.2 Humphries found himself at the centre of an unlikely debate after pundit Charlie Murphy questioned his confidence and stage presence on an OLBG podcast.
‘Cool Hand’ fired back by winning the Belgian Open and joking he was just collecting more “aura points” following his success in Wieze.
Youtuber and co-owner of the Sidemen Behzinga insists the whole saga has been taken far too seriously from the start.
He told the Double Tops Podcast: “He’s got his own type. This is why it is so funny. I am using ‘aura’ in such a sarcastic way.
“I think all the terms like ‘aura this’ and ‘aura that’ are just funny. If I am batting for Charlie’s side, I’m going to say it is probably a throwaway comment.
“You just say, ‘Oh, he ain’t got aura,’ or whatever. But it’s not that deep. It’s never that serious.
“It’s just a silly little comment that he’s made, and it’s got back to him and landed the wrong way.
“You don’t have to be a showman or whatever.”
Presenter JaackMaate also suggested the remark may have simply referred to style rather than substance.
He added: “I think he meant kind of like brashness and loudness on the stage.”
While Sky Sports journalist Anna Woolhouse backed Humphries’ classy approach and insisted results are all that matter.
She said: “But does that make aura? He quietly goes about his business. That doesn’t make him any different.
“I think there is a place for every single kind of personality there. I really do. As long as your darts are doing the talking then that is all that matters.”
Humphries has enjoyed a superb start to the year, reaching the final of the World Masters and already collecting TWO ProTour titles.
The Cheshire thrower currently sits fifth in the Premier League table and will face Gerwyn Price on Night Nine in Manchester.
