MITCHELL LAWRIE insists he wants to be his own player and is NOT the next Luke Littler.

The 15-year-old has been touted as the teen superstar to follow The Nuke’s rise to glory on the oche.

But the Scot hotshot, current WDF World Youth Champion,  dismisses talk of just being the next version of Littler when he begins his professional career in 2027.

He said: “I just want to do my own thing, make my own path. The dream is obviously to win a PDC major and win the World Championship.

“I believe I’ve got the ability. I’ve just got to be Mitchell Lawrie.

“Obviously Luke is a good inspiration. It’s great what he has done for the sport, he’s done everything for us at the end of the day.

“But I want to be my own player. Follow my own path and just do what I do.

“It’s my thing I talk, I never shut up. It’s not really hard for me. It’s like being in my comfort zone.

“I take it all in my stride. I love what I’m doing now and I’ll keep doing that.”

But Lawrie, from Renfrew, does believe he is similar to Littler as they both love banter on stage and with the fans.

He added: “I’m not quiet. If Luke’s not quiet then I guess we are alike. I’ve spoken to him a few times. If you don’t have banter in your life, life isn’t fun I don’t care what you say.”

Lawrie turns 16 on November 4 so will get his first chance to hit the professional circuit at the PDC Qualifying School in January.

He continued: “It’s definitely straight to Q-School, I’m itching to get on to it to be honest. I want to be up there and play the big boys,  I want to play the best players.

“I want to challenge myself. I know that brings my game out.”
