LEUNG CREATES HISTORY AT SAUDI ARABIA MASTERS

MAN LOK LEUNG credited a good dinner and a proper night’s sleep after stunning Danny Noppert at the Saudi Arabia Masters.
The Hong Kong thrower caused a major upset in Riyadh, beating Noppert 6-3 to become the first-ever winner of a match at the event.
World No.10 Noppert endured a night to forget, averaging just 81.25, while Leung thrived under the lights to reach the quarter-final.
Leung revealed there was no secret training regime or sports science behind the triumph, just a simple and stress-free build-up.
He said: “I am very happy that on this stage I played my best.
“A big win for me, first match and get the first win.
“I had a good dinner and I slept well!”
Leung became just the second Asian representative to win a match at a World Series event, following Paulo Nebrida’s 6-3 victory over Rob Cross at last year’s Bahrain Masters.
‘Hugo’ has shown glimpses of brilliance on the PDC circuit, breaking the record for most 180s in a first-round World Championship match with 11 against Gian van Veen in 2024.
The 26-year-old will face Nathan Aspinall for a place in the semi-final of the Saudi Arabian Masters.
