LEWIS NAMES TAYLOR AS WORST RIVAL FOR MIND GAMES

ADRIAN LEWIS has revealed Phil Taylor was among the worst he faced for mind games on the PDC circuit.

The two-time world champion claims ‘The Power’ would deliberately try to unsettle rivals during matches, even resorting to FARTING on the oche as part of his psychological warfare.

Lewis says the dirty tricks were relentless from his great rival and often played out in full view of packed arenas and television audiences.

He told talkSPORT: “He would be standing there and farting on the oche doing all sorts.

“Oh God he is awful for it! For instance your darts case would go missing.

“It’s like hold on a minute. He would do loads of things.”

The Stoke-on-Trent thrower admits he never had the temperament to ignore the gamesmanship and preferred to confront issues head-on during matches.

He added: “I do bite when I shouldn’t bite. I don’t think I’ve always had as stable a mind as I should have.

“But sometimes I do laugh it out. I’m one of those people where some of the PDC lads say, ‘Why didn’t you wait until after to tell them?’

“Listen, there’s no point telling someone later if they’re doing something wrong.

“I’m going to tell them there and then while they’re here. It doesn’t matter if there are millions watching.

“There’s no point waiting until I get backstage. We might as well have it out and say, ‘Listen, I don’t like it. Stop it.’”
