LITTLER FILES TO TRADEMARK HIS FACE

21/03/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

LUKE LITTLER has applied to the Intellectual Property Office to trademark his face.

World No.1 Littler has filed an application to control the use of his mugshot across a wide range of products, from video games to cartoons.

The move comes as AI-generated content featuring celebrities’ faces or voices without consent has become increasingly common.

Actress Scarlett Johansson threatened legal action against OpenAI in the US, claiming the company had used her voice in its AI assistant without permission.

In the UK, Jeremy Clarkson became one of the first stars to register his face at the Intellectual Property Office last November.

Littler hopes his trademark will stop online bootleggers from exploiting his image on items including darts gear, jewellery, clothing, drinks, and snacks.

The Warrington thrower shot to fame as runner-up at the 2024 World Championship at just 16, before winning titles in 2025 and 2026.

The 12-time major winner has become a millionaire and one of the most prominent names in international sport.

Littler has already trademarked his nickname “the Nuke” in the United States.

Registering a trademark gives individuals or businesses legal protection for their ideas or brand, preventing others from using them without permission.

It also allows them to display the registered trademark symbol on their products, signaling ownership and deterring unauthorized use.
