LITTLER GIVES ENGLAND STARS DARTS LESSON

LUKE LITTLER taught the England players a “lesson” on the dartboard ahead of the World Cup.

World No.1 Luke Littler visited St George’s Park on Tuesday ahead of the Three Lions’ friendly double-header against Uruguay and Japan at Wembley.

‘The Nuke’ spent time with the squad and joined them for dinner before overseeing the inaugural Three Lions Darts Championship.

Players were given the chance to try out darts, with a practice room set up complete with an oche and the latest Target Omni scoring system.

The squad took part in a knockout-style tournament, overseen by PDC referee Owen Binks, with Aaron Ramsdale and Phil Foden reaching the final.

Man City midfielder Foden even struck a 180 during the games but it was Newcastle goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale who emerged as the ‘camp champion’.

Littler also presented the players with personalised ‘Good Luck’ Target dartboards and sets of darts, before swapping shirts to mark the occasion.

The 12-time major winner was then handed a signed England shirt with, unsurprisingly, the number 180 on the back.

Littler told SunSport: “It was a dream as a football fan to come here to see the facilities, meet all the players and sit down and have dinner and have a laugh with them.

“We played a bit of darts – as they were warming up, Thomas Tuchel told me to teach these boys a lesson!

“There’s some good potential there in Phil Foden and Aaron Ramsdale. James Trafford had a little bit as well. The others not so much!

“I wished the boys luck this summer – lets hope they can bring it home.”

Ramsdale added: “It was great to have Luke visit St. George’s Park to meet the squad and wish us well.

“Personally, it was an honour for me to have the chance to step up to the oche and take on the world champion.”
