LITTLER SET TO ECLIPSE TAYLOR

31/03/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

JUSTIN HOOD has backed Luke Littler to smash Phil Taylor’s record and become the greatest player of all time.

‘The Power’ won a remarkable 16 world titles and was world No.1 for a total of THIRTEEN years in his illustrious career.

But Littler has already racked up a staggering 12 PDC Premier event titles and lifted the Sid Waddell Trophy back-to-back — all by the age of just 19!

World No.51 Hood has hailed the teenage sensation as the best he has ever seen, having teamed up with him for England at the 2022 British Internationals.

He told talkSPORT: “I’ve known Luke for a long time. I played him in Modus before all that. We would get there at 9am in the morning.

“I would be on the board for three hours practising and I had him first game. He would walk in, five minutes, 105 average, and then sit down 4-0 later.

“He is the best player I have ever seen. It is unbelievable what he can do on that board. I’ve got a good record against Luke, we are 2-2. I think he respects me and I can definitely respect what he can do.

“He gets a lot of stuff online now because he is good, same as what Phil [Taylor] was getting and Michael [van Gerwen].

“He is unbelievably talented and I think he is going to go on and become the best ever.”

The Ally Pally quarter-finalist believes the standard of darts is now higher and that Littler would not need to match Taylor’s tally to be considered the GOAT.

He added: “Not to the standard it is now. I think if he gets to 10 world titles that will eclipse it. I wouldn’t put it past him to get to 20 if he stays hungry and wants it.”
