LITTLER WILL NOT DOMINATE DARTS IN THE LONG TERM

ADRIAN LEWIS believes Luke Littler is “BORED” and doubts he can dominate darts for the next decade.
The two-time world champion pointed to Littler’s growing fame away from the oche as a potential issue.
World No.1 Littler claimed his second Night victory in the Premier League at Dublin, edging Gerwyn Price 6-5 in a thrilling final and closing the gap to just three points behind table-topper Jonny Clayton.
Lewis raised concerns over Littler’s long-term commitment to practice and ruled out the teen sensation reigning supreme at the oche for the next 20 years.
He told the Double Tops podcast: “No, no. My reason behind it is the fact that he’s got so many avenues now. It isn’t just about doors for him anymore.
“He’s opened that many doors for himself because he can basically do whatever he wants. I mean, look, he was at the Brit Awards, wasn’t he? Last week.
“He can basically do what he wants. I think he’s getting bored.
“If he’s not practicing now, he’s not going to be practicing in 10 years, 15 years, is he?”
Former BDO world champion Glen Durrant echoed a similar sentiment, suggesting Littler’s rapid rise to celebrity stardom could see him exit the sport sooner than expected.
He added: “He’s not a dart player, he’s a celebrity. He’s one of the most famous people in Britain.
“That’s why I admire the likes of James Wade, Steve Beaton — longevity.
“I’ve got Michael van Gerwen in that as well. Players who have won everything multiple times, yet they’re still motivated to do it.”
Littler has already won 12 major titles in his career, trailing only Michael van Gerwen (48) and Phil Taylor (87) in the all-time rankings.
The Warrington whizkid has been on the PDC tour for just two years, highlighting his incredible consistency and talent.
