MVG THROWS OUT ELVIS PRESLEY ON WAY TO NORDIC TITLE!

08/06/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN had an Elvis impersonator thrown out of the Nordic Darts Masters before going on to win the title.
The three-time world champion was locked in a tense battle with Viktor Tingstrom when the bizarre incident unfolded.
Mighty Mike had just edged into a 3-2 lead after pinning double five when something caught his attention at the side of the stage.
A spectator dressed as Elvis Presley was standing close to the action and appeared to be distracting the Dutchman.
Clearly unhappy, Van Gerwen gestured towards officials and signalled for the fan to be removed amid fears the costume could catch his eye while throwing.
MVG’s wish was quickly granted as the Elvis superfan was then seen storming off within seconds.
The world No4 went on to secure a nail-biting 6-5 quarter-final victory over Tingstrom following the shock incident.
But Van Gerwen revealed he gave himself an X-rated dressing down after averaging just 86.12 in his triumph over the Swede.
He said: “I was gutted. I was disappointed.
“I was sitting in the corner. I was thinking to myself: ‘What the f*** am I doing?’
“And you need to try to take the most of it. Because the tournament is not over. And you need to keep believing in your own ability.
“That’s what I’m always doing. But sometimes it’s hard. And the moment is there to turn things around. It always gives you joy.
“Winning [is] the best medicine towards the next games. You want to show everyone what you’re capable of.
“More importantly for me, for myself, for my game, I was able to bounce back, even when things are not going great.”
Van Gerwen ultimately had the last laugh as he went on to lift the trophy and collect the £30,000 winner’s cheque.
The 48-time major winner edged past Luke Humphries 8-7 in the final and survived a match dart along the way.
Van Gerwen has enjoyed an outstanding World Series campaign, topping the rankings after winning the Bahrain Darts Masters and reaching the final of the Saudi Arabia Masters.
