GERWYN PRICE is scheduled to compete in the UK Open Pool Championship in May which clashes with Premier League Finals Night.
The Iceman has received a wild card for the event at the Brentwood Centre, which features 256 players from over 50 countries and a £167,500 prize fund on May 26-31.
The former world champ is no stranger to cue sports, having played at last year’s Mosconi Cup and in an exhibition Pro-Am at Alexandra Palace.
Price is under pressure in the Premier League this season after suffering three consecutive quarter-final losses.
The world No7 currently sits third in the table and just five points above fifth place ahead of Thursday’s action in Aberdeen.
The PDC clarified Price’s position should he qualify for the Play-Offs which takes place on May 28.
A statement read: “Gerwyn does not require any special dispensation to participate. PDC players are free to take part in non-darts events outside of their playing commitments.
“We are not sure if Gerwyn would play if he were to qualify for Premier League Play-Offs night, but we believe he would choose the darts in the event of a clash!”
Price faces Stephen Bunting at the P&J Live Arena and is chasing a third Nightly win in the competition.
