ROCK WANTS PDC RULE CHANGE AND REVEALS BODY TRANSFORMATION
02/04/2026 By Aaron Nijjar
JOSH ROCK wishes he could wear SHORTS at the oche.
‘Rocky’ has revealed the one rule he would change on the PDC circuit as he opened up on the struggles of playing in intense heat on the big stage.
World No. 7 Rock admitted the traditional trousers can make conditions even tougher during major tournaments.
He told the Talking Bollox Podcast: “I wish I could play in shorts.
“I wish I could play in shorts, because when you’re standing up there and there’s times, like in Frankfurt, World Cup, you’re sweating buckets.
“I wish I could play in shorts. I’d be shorts all day long. And quite a few other boys in that room would be shorts as well.”
Rock also revealed he has shed the pounds, undergoing a major body transformation after losing THREE-AND-A-HALF STONE.
The Antrim thrower insists the sport has changed, with more players now taking care of their health to prolong their careers.
Rock says he is still working to improve his fitness as he looks to stay at the top of his game.
He added: “Well, I remember in the Matchplay last year, now I was 18 and a half stone, now I’m 15, I’ve lost three and a half stone in a year.
“I can see the difference in myself, like I don’t sweat as much as I was back then. It was just because you’re fat.
“So, I’m still fat now, but I’m not as fat as I was back then.
“I’m still in the middle of losing weight now. It’s just, you want to be able to live a bit longer instead of being fat and doing everything else.
“So, just watch what you eat now and watch what you drink.
“Physique, obviously, throughout darts throughout the years, it’s obviously, beer bellies and all that stuff.
“But it’s not as much anymore now, so you just kind of need to look after yourself.”
The 24-year-old has already enjoyed a stellar career, reaching four major semi-finals and winning the World Cup for Northern Ireland.
Rock insists his ultimate ambition is to lift the Sid Waddell Trophy while providing for his family.
He continued: “I’ve never even thought of that. You say a career goal, obviously try my best to be a world champion in darts.
“But as long as my two kids, my wife have got a roof over the head, I don’t care.”
Rock returns to action this evening in the Premier League and will face Jonny Clayton on Night Nine in Manchester.
