SPRINGER QUITS DAY JOB TO PURSUE DARTING DREAM

25/06/2025 By Aaron Nijjar

NIKO SPRINGER has revealed he’s quitting his day job to go full-time on the oche from August.

The 24-year-old earned a coveted two-year PDC Tour Card on the back of a sensational Development Tour campaign in 2024 as he clinched three titles and finished second on the Order of Merit.

World No. 71 Springer followed this up by making an eye-catching run to the Dutch Darts Championship final and pushing Jonny Clayton all the way in an 8–6 thriller last month.

German thrower Springer officially gave up his civil servant status in January to take on a more flexible role.

But juggling life on tour with a part-time public sector job soon proved too much for Springer to handle.

He told the Tops Tops Tops podcast: “From August, things will change.

“I won’t be working anymore.

“When I have a weekend like Rosmalen, I get home around half past three in the morning, and then I’m up again at seven for work — plus a one-hour commute.

“Over time, it just drains you.

“I enjoyed my job and I did it well, so this wasn’t easy.

“But I’ve decided that this chapter will close — at least for now — in August.

“That sense of security is going away for the moment, but I’ve got the option to go back at any time, no strings attached.”
