SULJOVIC LIFTS LID ON CULLEN ROW AFTER ALLY PALLY CLASH

MENSUR SULJOVIC admits Joe Cullen asked him to “sweep it under the rug” after their clash at the World Championship.

‘The Gentle’ made headlines at Ally Pally after being accused of “cheating” by Cullen over the amount of time he was taking between throws during their second-round clash.

But the Austrian insists the issue was quickly resolved when they crossed paths on tour earlier this year.

Suljovic revealed Cullen approached him at the World Masters qualifiers to clear the air.

He told Madhouse: “At the Winmau World Masters he immediately said: Can we just sweep this under the rug? I said: Fine by me.”

The pair faced off again on the ProTour last month, with Suljović running out a 6-2 winner over ‘The Rockstar’ at Players Championship Two.

He added: “But this time I played in his rhythm, I played faster, and then he lost.”

World No. 55 Mensur Suljović is renowned as a tricky opponent, often getting the better of players with his unique rhythm and antics on stage.

Yet Suljović admits that his own persona can sometimes work against him, saying it occasionally distracts from his game rather than helping it.

He continued: “Unfortunately a weakness, because I’m not always fully focused.

“However, I’m definitely a gentleman, I always have been and always will be.”

Suljović also opened up about his favourite cuisine while on the road and how long he plans to continue competing professionally at the oche.

He said: “I prefer to go to Burger King, I have to be honest.

“I just turned 54, I’ll be around for the next ten years at least.”
