VAN GERWEN TARGETS CLAYTON WITH FIERY DISH

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN joked he would cook Jonny Clayton a SPICY dish to leave him on the toilet all day.
The Dutchman was in playful mood during a light-hearted PDC sponsor video filmed in a restaurant setting alongside a hospitality partner.
Taking on a doubles challenge while answering questions from Becky James, the three-time world champ was asked which player he would most like to whip up a meal for.
He said: “Jonny Clayton. Let me make the Indian. It will be so spicy, so he never gets off the toilet.”
World No.4 was also quizzed on what fancy dress costume he would choose if attending the darts as a spectator.
He replied: “Pineapple. Definitely, I love pineapples.”
‘Mighty Mike’ revealed the electronic music he is currently enjoying away from the oche.
He added: “I like Hugel. Martin Garrix, I like to listen to those.”
Van Gerwen was then questioned whether pace is important to his game when he is at his best.
He said: “My pace is really important. When you are in the zone, it is the easiest thing that you don’t think about.”
MVG currently sits fourth in the Premier League table and is four points ahead of compatriot Gian van Veen.
The 48-time major winner has enjoyed an impressive campaign winning Night One and reaching a further three finals.
Van Gerwen returns to action on Thursday night in Rotterdam, where he takes on Jonny Clayton as he looks to strengthen his play-off push ahead of Finals Night at the O2.
