WILLIAMS ADMITS DARTITIS STRUGGLE

SCOTT WILLIAMS has revealed he is battling dartitis after a disappointing first-round exit at the Belgium Darts Open.

‘Shaggy’ was beaten 6-2 by Ricky Evans, averaging just 83.48 as his difficult start to the season continued.

World No. 44 Williams first showed signs of the condition during a Players Championship defeat to Ryan Joyce in October, when footage captured him struggling to release the dart.

Williams admitted the issue is still impacting him but insists he has a strong support network in place as he works to overcome it.

He said on Instagram: “Well done Ricky there, that was a great game. His scoring was decent for the most part and his doubles were very good.

“Fair play to you, my man. I appreciate you and all the best tomorrow against Ryan [Searle].

“I have positives from that. You guys will see this and go I was dog s***. I actually have positives from that because I have been struggling recently with dartitis.

“But I have the right guys around me and the right team. I have people supporting me and pushing me through this.

“So, thank you to them guys and also all the best to Ricky. I am going to be here [in Belgium] for the rest of the weekend, so I am going to have a great time.

“I am going to be supporting Josh [Rock]. I love you guys and thank you so much for your support.”

Williams has failed to progress beyond the second round in the opening six Players Championship events of the campaign.

The Boston thrower was also knocked out in the third round of the UK Open, falling 6-4 to Benjamin Pratnemer.
