WRIGHT READY TO SHOW ENGLAND WHO IS BOSS!

10/06/2025 By Aaron Nijjar

PETER WRIGHT has fired a fierce warning to England ahead of the World Cup of Darts.

‘Snakebite’ has won the tournament in 2019 and 2021 for Scotland.

Former world champion Wright will team up with Gary Anderson and will enter in the second round on Saturday in Frankfurt.

World No. 16 Wright isn’t buying into the media hype surrounding teen sensation Luke Littler and world No. 1 Luke Humphries being the favourites to lift the title.

He told Darts News: “Let them speak about them two, potentially we don’t meet until the final.

“Hopefully we meet in the final and we can show who’s boss.”

Eight-times major winner Wright admits it is a huge honour to represent his nation for an 11th occasion.

He added: “You ask any player representing their country and to play with one of the greatest Scottish darts players in Gary Anderson, it’s special.

“He puts nerves in me because I look up to him. He’s brilliant.”

Wright made the final of the Players Championship 11 in April.

But the 55-year-old is still chasing a first ranking title of the year and has not won a major crown since the European Championship in 2023.

Livingston thrower Wright is hoping to change his recent misfortune on the big stage as he gears up for a busy few months on tour.

He revealed: “I’m getting ready for the Matchplay and getting ready for the World’s and obviously ready for the World Cup.

“Practice is going good but I just want it to show up there.”
