CAMERON MENZIES has revealed he is battling a HEART condition.
The Scot opened up on his health struggles, admitting he has been dealing with high blood pressure and an ectopic heartbeat
World No.29 Menzies says he has already made significant progress, shedding THREE stone as he follows medical advice.
Menzies has thrown himself into fitness and admits life away from the oche has improved significantly in recent months.
He said: “In life I am doing a lot better, I am hitting the gym. I have an issue with my heart. I have high blood pressure and an ectopic heartbeat.
“Which is quite common, my family have heart issues and stuff. So my weight was bad — I was 21 and a half stone and I am 18 stone at the moment.
“Hopefully I can go more down and I am trying to look after myself a bit more because that is doctor’s orders.
“Life generally is in a good place at the moment compared to three or four months ago.
“I am doing hypnotherapy treatment, which is a massive thing. It helps and makes things easier.
“When things become complicated and hard, you break it down into smaller problems.
“You deal with smaller problems better than you do with the big ones. So life is good at the moment.”
‘Cammy’ defeated Sietse Lap 6-1 and was clinical on his doubles, landing six of 12 attempts to book his place in round two of the Belgian Darts Open.
Menzies has made a steady start to the year, reaching the third round of the Poland Masters and the last 32 at Players Championship Five.
He added: “The result today is the most important thing. I was nervous, and I wanted to win more than anything else.
“I have not had a great start to the year, but I do think I am playing well at the moment.
“I feel like I am trying too hard, but that could be because of the territory I am in.”
