ASPINALL ADMITS HE HAD “A LOT OF BEERS” AFTER TITLE WIN

NATHAN ASPINALL revealed he had “a lot of beers” celebrating his Munich title win but still managed to make his flight home.
The Asp partied into the night after lifting the German Darts Grand Prix crown a fortnight ago yet showed no ill effects as he returned to action in style.
The world No.14 powered into the quarter-finals of the European Darts Grand Prix with a 6-3 win over James Wade, averaging 106.20 and taking out a brilliant 150 finish.
Aspinall admitted his journey home after lifting his fourth European Tour trophy was far from ideal as he battled a slight hangover.
He told DartsNews: “I had more than a few beers. I had a lot of beers!
“But I made my flight. I made it… it was a vile flight, it wasn’t good, but I made it.”
The Stockport thrower is thriving on the big stage this season and is looking to go back-to back in Sindelfingen.
Aspinall explained he missed the Players Championship Nine and Ten in Wigan earlier this week to preserve his energy.
He added: “I just love the European Tour, I feel at home on that stage.
“Whenever I walk out on the European Tour — last year I had a lot of success on it — and this year I won two weeks ago when I wasn’t in the best of form.
“I chose to pull out of the Pro Tours last week because I didn’t want any negativity coming into this tournament.
“I’m looking forward to a big day tomorrow and hopefully I can go back-to-back.”
Aspinall even switched things up in Munich, walking on to Lose Yourself by Eminem instead of his usual Mr. Brightside.
But the two-time major winner has remained coy whether the change will happen again.
He continued: “We’ll see if we get to Sunday night.”
Aspinall returns to action this evening at the Glaspalast arena and will take on Ross Smith for a spot in the semi-final.
