GREAVES EYES WORLD TITLE ROUTE TO PREMIER LEAGUE

BEAU GREAVES admits she may need to win the world title to land a spot in the Premier League.
The Doncaster thrower made history by becoming the first female player to win a PDC ProTour title, edging out Michael Smith 8-7 in a thrilling Players Championship 11 final.
The women’s world No1 insists she’s not getting carried away after her stunning breakthrough and is keeping her feet firmly on the ground.
She said: “I’ll probably need to win the World Championship to get in the Premier League, but I don’t know, I haven’t really thought ahead.
“I never thought I’d win my first ranking title now, never mind ever, so yeah, I’m just going to enjoy the moment.
“I’ll get back to practising and keep working hard, and then you never know—if I keep going the way I am, you never know where I might end up.
“But yeah, I’m not going to think too much about anything. I’ll just carry on playing my darts and enjoying my life.”
Greaves has enjoyed a stellar year on the floor and currently sits fourth in the Order of Merit for Players Championship Finals qualification, having already banked £35,250 this season.
The 22-year-old is embracing her role as a trailblazer for the women’s game.
She added: “Yeah, in a way. I’ve always tried to just concentrate on myself, but it definitely comes into it.
“Obviously Fallon [Sherrock] had her time with the men, winning games and stuff, and now I’ve kind of come along and I’m trying to do that as well.
“I’m trying to fly the flag for young girls out there, and I probably feel more pressure in that way.
“I just want to be successful and give young girls someone to look up to, along with some of the other women playing.
“But I don’t feel too much pressure. I just try to play my game and enjoy everything I play in.”
