EVANS ENDS INCREDIBLE PROTOUR RUN
13/05/2026 By Aaron Nijjar
RICKY EVANS will miss the first Players Championship of his career today after ending an incredible run of 520 consecutive appearances.
Rapid Ricky has withdrawn from Players Championship 16 in Leicester because of exhibition commitments in Belgium.
The Kettering thrower’s absence snaps a remarkable streak stretching back to when he became a Tour Card holder in 2013.
Despite never winning a senior PDC title, Evans has reached SIX finals and made the semi-finals of the UK Open.
Evans admits he has always struggled to skip competitions because he fears missing the tournament where he could finally lift a trophy.
He told Oche180: “If I was in their situation I would pull out but I can’t. I need to get to Ally Pally. I’m in with a chance to get a late run to the World Grand Prix.
“The Matchplay is a bit too far. I need to play events.
“I’ve never missed one event in the 13 years I’ve been a Tour-Card holder so that shows how rubbish I am because I’ve never won one!
“I believe if I miss an event that could be the day I have won one. That is my stupidness for you.”
