CROSS WANTS IT “MORE THAN EVER”

ROB CROSS vowed he “wants it more than ever” after a powerhouse win over Nathan Aspinall.
The 2018 World Champ delivered a 104 average to outgun The Asp 10-8 in a proper Slam Slugfest.
Voltage will now play Damon Heta in the quarters and admitted: “Firstly that win is for my eldest son Leyton who turned 12 today.
“I’m gutted I couldn’t be at home for his birthday. I miss it every year because I’m here at the Slam.
“I hope he had a great day and I’ll make it up to him when I get back. I hope he enjoyed that win though.
“I’m probably guilty for not being up for it enough sometimes. Nathan was so resilient. He just chipped away and credit to him. But I was the better player tonight and I got it done.
“I’ve had my downs like any professional. I won the world title in my first year and had to come down off Mount Everest. I’ve done my learning and now I want it more than ever.”
Cross was outstanding throughout with a 104 average against an equally impressive Aspinall with 103.
He added: “I know the game is there and I’m just enjoying it more than ever and I’m more aggressive.
“It just gives you a buzz. When you have to stay in front and only have one break. Just being able to stay in front and hold the lead, that shows your minerals.
“I wouldn’t say that a title is close, I’m just not going to say that. I know what I’m like. It could all go back to normal tomorrow.
“Darts is darts and you have to perform in every match. That’s the key.
“The experience that I have I’m now capable. But with three matches to go, you have to be realistic and say there’s still a long way to go.”
