GREAVES WANTS MULTI WORLD CHAMPS

BEAU GREAVES has revealed she chose the WDF over the PDC because she wants to be a multiple world champion.
The No.1 women’s player in the world will take on Lorraine Hyde in the last 16 at Lakeside tonight.
Doncaster ace Greaves, 19, did qualify for the Alexandra Palace event in one of the two ladies’ spots on offer.
But the PDC then ruled that players – male and female – could not compete in both competitions.
Greaves decided that she wanted to defend her WDF world crown over appearing at the Ally Pally. But that also meant missing out on making big headlines like Fallon Sherrock has done over the past few years.
Greaves, who is favourite for the £25,000 title this week at Frimley
Green, said: “It’s a bit of a cliche but I have always wanted to be a multiple world champion.
“It’s a shame the decision was made but I knew it was coming. I didn’t think I could do both.
“I really enjoy playing at Lakeside. I love it there. I do love ladies darts.
“To me, Ally Pally and that environment isn’t ladies darts, even though I know there are two ladies in it.
“I don’t really have the financial pressures on me. I don’t have to run a house. I don’t have a mortgage.
“I live at home, I pay a bit of board to my mum and that’s it.”
She added: “I know I made the right decision because when I watched the draw for the PDC, I didn’t want to be in it. I didn’t miss it. I didn’t think I should be in it.
“Nothing this week is guaranteed, it’s going to be hard, I know that being the defending champion as well doesn’t make it any easier.
“But I am looking forward to it. It should be a good challenge.”
