LUKE LITTLER was furious with the crowd after Peter Wright came back to shock him in the German Championship final.

The teen sensation reacted to the fans after a whistle put him off a vital checkout in Hildesheim on Sunday night.

Littler, 17, was going for a 150 finish and missed double 15 and immediately turned and shouted at the crowd.

Wright remarkably then produced his sixth leg in succession to come back from 5-2 down to win 8-5.

However during the post-match presentation Littler then broke down with emotion on stage after explaining that his friend had lost his dad recently.

On Wright, Littler said: “He wouldn’t go away. I threw my best, he threw his best. It maybe would have changed on the 150 if no one whistled. But that’s what they do.

“Fair play to Peter he’s played well all weekend and so have I. But I’ve got to take it on the chin.

“I have got to give a massive shout out to my friend Ellis. He lost his dad I’ve known him since I was three or four.”

Littler was then led away in tears and stood with his face to the back of the stage leaving Wright in genuine concern for the teenager.

Wright said: “It definitely means a lot. Luke’s distraught there because obviously he’s already won two this year. He wants to win.

“He’s a fighter and a winner. He’ll be back, beating everyone up.”

Earlier in the final, Littler was back to his relentless best, roaring into a 5-2 lead averaging 111.82.

But Wright delivered two outstanding ton-plus finishes just and then hit two tops checkouts level it up 5-5.

Littler missed three darts at double five and Wright took out double top again for four legs on the spin and the lead before closing out the victory.

Wright had earlier burst into tears on stage after beating Michael van Gerwen 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

The two-time World Champ, who has endured a tough year of results, was overwhelmed by the German crowd chanting his name.

Wright almost averaged 109 to beat his old foe and said: “Obviously you’ve got to play well against Michael. He’s had his operation and stuff like that. He’s still be playing good darts.”

As the crowd chanted, he started to cry and said: “I’m on the way back.”
