LUKE LITTLER has been warned that the media may be looking for a ‘scandal’ from him following his recent celebration of his 18th birthday

The young darts star’s reputation recently soared even higher after his remarkable World Darts Championship triumph at Alexandra Palace.

Former UK Open runner up Vincent van der Voort has warned the ‘Nuke’ that the press will likely be searching for a ‘scandal’ now that he is officially an adult.

Speaking on the podcast ‘Darts Draait Door’, Van der Voort said: “He was the up-and-coming guy for a while and now he’s there. He’s also loved by the press, but in the long run that’s going to change.

“When you’re still a kid, they’re still lenient on you. Once they see you as an adult, they don’t mind taking you under. Luke will have to watch out for it. You’re about to get that the press wants a scandal from him, too.

“There are stories that people are paid to try to frame other people. So that will be watchful for him.”

The Dutchman has also advised Littler to prepare for an increase in press requests moving forward.

He added: “They always want to know what you think of something. It will be hard for him to start cancelling things, because the PDC wants him for everything.

“Nobody needs to feel sorry for Littler, because he gets paid handsomely for it. And that can only get more now.”

The ‘Nuke’ recently competed in the Bahrain Masters which he won last year, but this time Stephen Bunting emerged victorious in the Middle East.

Littler is set to return to action this Friday at the Dutch Darts Masters, where he will aim to secure his first World Series title of the year.
