VAN GERWEN ANNOUNCES SPLIT FROM WIFE

MICHAEL van Gerwen has announced the split from his wife Daphne after 11 years of marriage.
The three-times world champion revealed the news on his Instagram account today.
It came just 48 hours after the Dutchman missed out on the Premier League play-offs for only the second time in 13 years.
He said: “Daphne and I have decided to end our relationship.
“As a result I have withdrawn from the upcoming tournaments. I’m sorry to disappoint my fans but I’m confident they’ll understand my choice.
“We are facing a difficult time and ask everyone to respect our privacy in this difficult period.”
