ANDO: “LIFE IN OLD DOG YET!”

GARY ANDERSON blasted “there’s life in the old dog yet” after a vintage display to dump Gerwyn Price.
The two-time World Champ outclassed the on-form Welshman with a stunning 10-6 Grand Slam win in Wolverhampton.
Ando, 52, rolled back the years with a 104 average in a high-class match of 14 180s. The Scot is now into the last eight for the first time in four years.
He said: “The way Gerwyn has been playing, he’s been bloomin’ good. I did a 102 to 104 average so I’m getting there.
“Any checkout is good at that stage of the game. My darts are going well, my first two games weren’t too good.
“There’s life in the old dog yet. Remember to tell the boys that I’m finished!
“In the Grand Slam you get three chances on the stage and a little warm-up and tasters, it does help.”
Anderson was outstanding from the off and led 3-1 but Price pegged him back to level it at 3-3.
But it was clear that the Scot was in the mood in his favourite tournament. He pinned 81 and 65 to reclaim a two-leg cushion.
However the crucial moments were to come with two phenomenal legs which, on both occasions, he hit big scores to strangely leave double two. He hit both to lead 8-4 and really turn the screw.
Price then found another gear to win two on the bounce but Anderson kept his cool to finish with double 12 and double six to go through to the last eight.
