Asp aims for “mint” Stockport double with Foden

NATHAN ASPINALL admits he wants to kick off a unique Stockport sporting double with England star Phil Foden.
The Asp, 29, will be going for glory in the Unibet Premier League Play-Off finals at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes tonight.
Then his fellow Stockport star Phil Foden will 24 hours later attempt to land the Champions League with Manchester City in their final against Chelsea.
Aspinall, runner-up in last year’s Premier League final, takes on red-hot Jose de Sousa in tonight’s second semi-final and will land a £250,000 winner’s cheque if he wins overall. But he laughed: “I’ll swap with him tomorrow!
“I’ve never had the pleasure to meet the guy, he’s been brought up in Stockport probably five minutes from where I was brought up.
“There’s another lad Taylor Harwood-Bellis at City, I’m actually friends with his dad.
“It’s not a big town but there’s Phil Foden, me and Blossoms the band. Stockport is the centre of the world!
“The only problem is that he plays for City and I’m a United fan. But I hope he can do it for club and country.
“But seriously you can’t compare me to Phil. He is unreal and a chap from Stockport making something of himself. Fair play to the guy and I’m sure in the near future we will cross paths.
“Nathan Aspinall Premier League champion and Phil Foden helping England win the Euros would be a very special year for us and Stockport.
“I can’t wait for the Euros, I missed it last year. Unfortunately the PDC have decided to put on a tournament the same week as the Euros start. I can’t wait and Phil can win it for us. I hope he does, it will be mint for England and Stockport.”
