CHRIS DOBEY is on ‘Project Luke Littler’ with his 14-month-old son.
‘Hollywood’ hopes his young child can be dominating the PDC circuit even earlier than ‘The Nuke’.
World No. 8 Dobey has two children but only one has shown a serious interest in darts.
The eldest was 18 months’ old when he lost interest in the sport.
But the former World Masters champion hopes his youngest will follow his lead by going into professional darts.
Dobey revealed his one-year-old has his own magnetic dart board and apparently loves throwing arrow
Asked when Project Littler starts with his young son, Dobey laughed and responded on the Juicy Darts YouTube channel: “It’s already started with the little one! I’ve got him a little magnetic dart board for his birthday and he’s never off it.
“My eldest has got no interest now. He did have a good natural throw when he was 12-18 months, but no interest whatsoever.
“[My youngest is] 14 months and he’s literally throwing it at the magnetic board.
“We’ll try to get him playing earlier than Littler!
“I didn’t force nothing on him. I got him [the magnetic board] and we’ll see what happens. But he’s always throwing it at the board and he loves it.”
The Bedlington thrower is only 34 and the prospect of him playing against one of his sons in the future was raised.
He said: “I’d like to still be playing if one of the two were to come through. It’ll be great. 100 per cent [I’d beat them], you can’t go light on them.
“I’m also one of those who would play pairs with them. I wouldn’t play pairs with a good player, you want to try to bring them through too.”
Dobey has only made it past the quarter-final on one Premier League night this year. However, he reached the final on night one in Belfast.
The darts ace is currently seventh in the table and will hope to put together a better run of performances over the next few weeks in the hope of qualifying for May’s play-offs.
Six-time ProTour event winner Dobey will be well supported when the Premier League goes to Newcastle for night eight on March 27.
He has had a good start to the season finishing in the semi-finals of the World Championships and winning the Players Championship Three event.
