DOBEY SLIMS DOWN FOR ASPINALL STAG DO!

CHRIS DOBEY has slimmed down to avoid being the “fat one” at Nathan Aspinall’s Ibiza stag do!

‘Hollywood’ admits the upcoming pre wedding party was the tongue in cheek trigger for a serious rethink as he looks to boost both his body and his performances on the stage. 

World No.12 revealed he has struggled with the gruelling demands of long European final days in the past and knew something had to change. 

Dobey explained he is eating healthier and improving his preparation in a bid to stay sharper for longer when it matters most. 

He said: “It’s key. I have struggled in the past with these long days on the final day of a European. 

“It does take it out of you. I had to change something. I know Nathan [Aspinall] is getting married this year and we are going to Ibiza on a stag do as well, so that was it. 

“I didn’t want to look like the fat one amongst my friends, so that was something I had to change. 

“Jokes aside, preparation is key and I am starting to eat a bit healthier as well. 

“I am just trying to put something right for a change and hopefully it will better me and my performances.” 

The Bedlington thrower has enjoyed a flying start to the season, landing the Players Championship 3 title and powering his way to the semi finals of the Poland Masters. 

Dobey is now targeting an elusive Euro Tour crown to finally add to his growing trophy haul. 

He added: “I want to start winning these. I have only made one final of a European Tour in the past. 

“I want to put that right and start winning them rather than just making the odd semi final. 

“I am going to play in everything. I am defending quite a bit this year. I need to knuckle down and put the practice in. 

“Hopefully I can put things right and get back to where I should be. 

“I have to let my darts go rather than put any pressure on myself. I know I am capable and I have won on stage before.”
