GREAVES FOCUSES ON HER OWN TARGETS

BEAU GREAVES insists she is ignoring outside expectations as she focuses on setting her own targets on the oche.

‘Beau ‘n’ Arrow’ suffered a 6-4 defeat to Darryl Pilgrim in round two of the UK Open.

World No. 1 Greaves led 4-3, but her opponent surged with three consecutive legs, knocking her out of the Premier event.

Greaves says she is adopting a carefree attitude this season after starting life as a PDC Tour Card holder earlier this year.

She said: “I’m feeling really good. I started my Tour Card in January, that was nice.

“I played here last year which was really good and I am looking forward to being here again and seeing what I can do.

“It’s different, I always look forward to it. Like you say, people really enjoy watching it.

“I have always watched it growing up so it is nice to come here and play.

“If you get further enough you get into the pot to be drawn out so hopefully I can get there again and see how it goes.

“It is definitely a nice feeling being here and playing. What I am trying to do this year is not think about what other people think.

“I am just trying to have a carefree attitude and enjoy my darts, try my best.

“Not try and live up to other people’s expectations, just my own. Then I think that is the way forward for me.

“Try and win every game I play. Obviously, it is not always going to happen but just try and be positive.”

Greaves has impressed in her debut year as a Tour Card holder, reaching the last 16 in two ProTour events and hitting a nine-darter.

The Doncaster darter is unbeaten in 113 matches on the PDC Women’s Series and has picked up 17 consecutive titles on the circuit.

However, Greaves was unable to replicate the heroics of last year’s Butlin’s Minehead run, where she reached the fourth round.
