GREAVES TIPPED FOR MAJOR GLORY

BEAU GREAVES will become the first woman to win a PDC MAJOR title, according to ex-pro Matt Edgar.
‘Beau ‘n’ Arrow’ last tasted defeat in the Women’s Series back in April after winning 113 matches in a row to secure the last 17 events on the circuit.
Women’s world No.1 Greaves reached the final of the World Youth Championship last year, defeating Luke Littler along the way.
Edgar reckons the Doncaster thrower has the quality to break new ground in the sport.
He said on the Mission Darts Podcast: “I think top 16 is realistic for Beau Greaves.
“I think she’s going to be the first ever female to win a major title. I think she will win one.
“She’s still young. We’re talking about a quality operator here who can compete with the top 32 and has beaten the best players in the world.
“She has competed with the likes of Luke Humphries. She’s beaten Luke Littler, she’s beaten Gian van Veen. She’s beaten Josh Rock.
“So, with that, absolutely, I think she’ll win a major title.
“She’s got years ahead of her. But it’s going to take a little bit of time. It’s going to take a transition. She’s still not a player who believes in her own ability 100 percent.”
Edgar also warned against getting carried away with immediate expectations, outlining what he believes is a realistic target for Greaves this year following her Tour Card success.
He added: “I think top 32. We’re getting so carried away with what she’s doing in regards to the ladies’ game, when the transition is over.
“We also need to remember she’s never won a game at Ally Pally, and she was there this year again.
“So to suggest she’s going to go Premier League is a world apart. Will she get in the Premier League? Yes.
“I’ve spoken to her management team about this as well, and I’ve given them full credit for this, because I think they need a lot of credit for how they’ve managed Beau over time.
“They have managed her absolutely perfectly. If you want sustainability and longevity, you don’t get that with rapid acceleration and progress. It needs to be — you need to learn, you need to develop.
“She’s done the WDF Tour, then she stayed there. Then she’s dabbled in the Women’s Series. Then she’s taken the Women’s Series on.
“Then she’s dabbled in the Development Tour. Oh, I’ve done a couple of Challenge Tours. Now I’ve done a couple of Pro Tours as an invite.”
