GREAVES WINS AS PIKACHU GETS BOOS

BEAU GREAVES admitted she kept the pressure on as Pikachu hit the boos.

The Doncaster ace delivered a convincing 5-1 win over the German in the Grand Slam in Wolverhampton yesterday (Sunday).

But Pietreczko, nicknamed Pikachu, reacted badly to the deafening jeers from the crowd and she took control to keep her Slam hopes alive.

Greaves, 19, said: “I did feel for him a little bit. The crowd was on his back. That’s what sort of happens when you play the ladies on stage. I love the support.

“It’s nice to get a win over someone who has been there and done it.

“I knew that was the point where I needed to step up a little bit and not get wrapped up in it all.”

Greaves hit three 180s and roared into a 3-0 lead. Pietreczko then started cupping his ears to the crowd, angry at the booing. Greaves then wrapped it up with a 90 with bull finish and then 96 with double 18.

She added: “I knew what he was doing, I didn’t think much of it. I concentrated on my game and eventually got over the line.

“It’s nice to come here and play as I can do on such a big stage. I kept the pressure on.

“I went up there and felt more confident. If I can relax I can be really good.”

Gerwyn Price booked his place in the knockout stages of the Slam with a 5-0 win over Ryan Searle in just eight minutes. Nathan Aspinall also qualified out of his group with a 5-2 win over Damon Heta.
