STEPHEN BUNTING admits nerves are getting the better of him as he continues his search for a first Premier League win this season.
World No. 6 Bunting is bottom of the table and remains the only player yet to win a match.
‘The Bullet’ suffered his latest quarter-final defeat to Chris Dobey in Cardiff on Night Seven.
‘Hollywood’ averaged 90.27 as he registered a 6-2 win over Bunting.
Bunting became the first player to lose their first seven quarter-final matches in the Premier League.
He wrote on X on Thursday night: “Absolutely gutted. So sorry to all who support me. Practiced so well tonight and unfortunately it just didn’t happen on the stage.
“I’ll keep giving it my all guys and keep believing. I’m making myself so nervous because I care and want to perform to my best instead of just relaxing and letting it happen. See you all next week. I’ll work hard and make sure I’ll improve. X.”
The Liverpudlian is now five points adrift of Dobey and a long way off fighting for a play-off place with nine nights of action remaining.
Former Masters champion Bunting did start the year off in fine form, claiming the Bahrain Darts Masters title and followed that performance with a final appearance at the Dutch Masters event.
Bunting faces Luke Littler next week in Newcastle on Night Eight of the Premier League.
