ITV BIDS FAREWELL TO DARTS

ITV Sport is calling time on a 17-year era as its darts coverage ends when the Players Championship Finals finish in Minehead.

From next year, every PDC event traditionally shown on ITV — The Masters, the UK Open, the European Championship and the Players Championship Finals — will still be broadcast on ITV, but they will now be produced entirely by Matchroom.

Sunday’s finale draws a line under ITV’s entire PDC portfolio, meaning no more Jacqui Oatley fronting coverage, no more analysis from Chris Mason or Alan Warriner-Little, and no more commentary from Stuart Pyke, Ned Boulting or John Rawling.

The emotion of the final day was clear, as long-time commentator Stuart Pyke wrote on X: “A sad day… after 17 years it’s the end of the road for ITV Sport on the darts… hopefully going out with a bang at the Players Championship Finals.”

Presenter Jacqui Oatley added: “En route to Minehead for my final darts tournament with ITV Sport… It’s been an incredible 10+ years… So we’re going to make the most of it and go out with a bang.”

ITV oversaw the early defining wins of Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael Smith, Gerwyn Price and countless others.

The broadcaster captured some of the sport’s most dramatic breakthroughs, unforgettable nine-darters and rising-star storylines that shaped the PDC era.

But the coverage will take on a revamped, refreshed feel for the rest of ITV’s current deal, which runs through to 2028, in partnership with the PDC.
