Josh Rock promises his TV form ‘will change’ after securing his third PDC title win of 2024

Josh Rock secured his third PDC ranking title of the year at the final Players Championship event in Leicester.

On Thursday, the Northern Irishman defeated the world number five Jonny Clayton in a last-leg decider to claim £15,000 in winnings.

Clayton fought back from 6-2 down, but Rock held his nerve when it mattered to win in the final leg.

Rock averaged 102 across the 15 legs and fended off a purple patch spell from Clayton, who averaged 106 himself.

“That was a very, very tough game,” reflected Rock to the PDC.

“That is why Jonny is one of the best players in the world. He just doesn’t go away!

“He knows what to do, how to do it and when to do it. He came back brilliantly there, but thankfully I hit that 118 checkout!”

The 23-year-old starlet previously defeated the Welshman to win his first European Tour title earlier in the year.

The County Antrim-born star thoroughly assessed his TV form despite qualifying for all the major tournaments.

With Rock’s best TV run arriving at the 2023 Grand Slam, where he reached his first quarter-final, he looks to improve his form heading into the World Championships in December.

“My TV performances in the last two years have been disappointing, but that will change,” the former World Youth Champion promised.

“I don’t know why it hasn’t been happening on the big stage, because I’m not doing anything different.

“I’m not feeling nervous up there, but things will change, and the one I am most focused for is the World Championship.”
