LEWIS ADMITS ROAD LIFE AND FAST FOOD WORRIES OVER COMEBACK

ADRIAN LEWIS admits a return to life on the road and fast food is “daunting” as he considers a PDC comeback.

‘Jackpot’ stepped away from professional darts in 2023 to focus on family life.

The two-time world champ made the decision after his wife Sarah was diagnosed with an incurable kidney disease, while his son has autism and ADHD.

The Stoke thrower has since shed three stone and adopted a far healthier lifestyle away from the oche.

But Lewis reckons a return to the circuit would force him back into old habits.

He told Darts World: “It would be another lifestyle change because you are on the road all the time, getting fast food, which I don’t think anybody really enjoys that much.

“But it’s something you have got to do. It’s just that side of things, really, compared to now where I am eating healthy and have changed my life.

“It’s back to that way, really, which is a bit daunting.

“My negative would be being away from home five days a week.

“Apart from that, everything else is a positive, so I can’t really dwell on that because I have had a good career so far and it can continue that way.”

Lewis says he expects to decide by November whether to enter Q School as he outlined his short and long-term comeback goals.

He added: “I’ve never been motivated by the money. It would be to come back and win a third world title.

“If I won that, then I think I would retire and just say that is me done, one big one. If you are world champion in any sport, you have obviously had a good career just for winning one.

“I have won it twice. Do I think I have got another one? I do, yeah. If I didn’t think that, I wouldn’t entertain going back.

“If you don’t believe in yourself, then no one else is.

“Short term goals, I don’t think I will make the Matchplay because I am already six months behind. I have already thought of that.

“There is a good chance I make the Worlds. There are the Grand Slam qualifiers, which I think I would have a good chance in qualifying for one of them.

“I reckon I would know by November time.”
