LEWIS CALLED POLICE OVER KEBAB MIX-UP

02/03/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

ADRIAN LEWIS once called the POLICE after becoming convinced Darren Webster had been “kidnapped” en route to grab a kebab.

Former pro Webster was left stunned after Lewis reported him missing during a tournament trip to Holland.

‘Demolition Man’ offered to grab Lewis some food after a night at the darts but ended up being gone for over an hour due to a busy wait.

But two-time world champion Lewis had already raised the alarm and told law enforcement his pal had been abducted by Dutch locals.

Webster told Modus: “One night we had finished the darts and were on our way back to the hotel.

“I said to Adrian, do you feel like something to eat? He said yeah, okay.

“So, I said I will go and get you a kebab. I’d gone to the kebab shop and there must have been 30 people there.

“I was waiting there for about an hour and 10 minutes. When I came to the room he went, ‘Where have you been?’

“I went to get you a kebab. He went, ‘Well I have phoned the police and told them you were kidnapped.’

“This was in Holland and I’m like, ‘You what?’

“He said, ‘Yeah, I have called the police and they have been here. I told them you were kidnapped and they asked me how old you were.’

“He said, ‘I’m 36 but he’s only this big and I am really worried about him.’

“I then had to phone the police and say I wasn’t kidnapped.

“Adrian said, ‘I was really worried, I thought you were kidnapped by the Dutch people.’”

Lewis stepped away from professional darts in 2023 to focus on family life.

The four-time major winner’s wife Sarah has been living with an incurable kidney disease, while his son has autism and ADHD, which led to Lewis prioritising time at home.

Lewis made his return in August 2025 at the MODUS Super Series International Pairs.

The Stoke-on-Trent thrower represented England alongside former Lakeside world champion Steve Beaton.

Lewis showed encouraging form, finishing fourth in Group B with four wins and four losses, just missing out on qualification.

Following that, Lewis has been candid about his ambition to make a comeback on the PDC ProTour.

He said: “I am leaning towards going back to Q-School, you know.

“We’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t know yet.

“I’ve got to make sure I’m mentally right, and that’s what it comes down to more than anything else.

“It’s alright hitting 100-plus averages on the exhibition circuit but can you do it on a regular basis in Q-School?

“I do definitely think I’ll be back, even if it’s not next year it will probably be the year after.”
