LEWIS: NO PLANS TO RETURN

ADRIAN LEWIS admits he hasn’t got “any plans” to return to the sport in 2024.

Jackpot was given a huge ovation by 400 fans at the PDC’s 30-year celebration of the World Championship in London last week.

Lewis, 38, took a break from the oche earlier this year for mental health reasons.

Fans chanted for him to return at the Leicester Square Theatre event and host Wayne Mardle asked him directly about a comeback. Lewis replied: “A possibility. I haven’t got any plans at the minute. We will see. I cannot promise something.”

Lewis also commented on the conversation on why his mentor Phil Taylor and then Michael van Gerwen have dominated the sport.

He said: “To be the ultimate like Phil and MVG have been, you have got to be greedy and want more and more and more. Not be happy and content with just the one. You have got to want more and more.”

On who is the best of all-time, Lewis added: “I think at the peak, consistency, leg-on-leg pressure, it has got to be Phil. It has got to be.”

Co-host Dan Dawson claimed a Royal Protection Officer once nearly pulled a gun on Jackpot.

And Lewis continued: “I had just come off stage after reaching my first final in 2011.

“Prince Harry came up to me, put his arms round me.

“As people have seen me do loads of times, I kiss people.

“On this occasion, it was Prince Harry. Then the shock hit me. Oh my God. I’ve just kissed Prince Harry.

“There was security looking at me. I’m thinking: ‘Oh s**t, here we go …’”
