LITTLER ALREADY IN DARTS ALL-TIME TOP FIVE

24/02/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

LUKE LITTLER is already one of the top five players of all time, according to ex-pro Matt Edgar.

The former Tour Card holder believes darts’ Mount Rushmore has long been set in stone, made up of Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen, Eric Bristow, Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld.

But Luke Littler has taken the oche by storm racking up 10 PDC Premier titles and becoming the youngest ever world No1 at just 18!

‘The Nuke’ also signed the biggest deal in the history of the sport worth around £20 MILLION with manufacturer Target.

Edgar believes Littler’s dominance and commercial impact are impossible to ignore.

He told Edgar TV: “We look at Luke Littler right now and he is taking on the world’s best players.

“For me, Luke Littler going back-to-back with World Championships and being world No1 by a significant margin.

“Having every major title apart from the European Championship from the last two years, now he is starting to get himself into this conversation.

“Luke Littler has had a massive impact on the game. He has brought new eyes and a demographic to the sport.

“I can’t go anywhere without seeing Luke Littler right now. I go into Smyths and he is there. There are Luke Littler dartboards.

“I go into Currys to get a TV. There is Luke Littler’s face. He has just signed a £20 million contract with his manufacturers, showing how big he is with brands.

“We have longevity there with his world No1 spot because that is how good he has been.

“I would say right now — and I am probably getting carried away with recency bias — Luke Littler is now in the top five players of all time.”

Edgar reckons that if Littler is to be added to that all-time list, it would be Van Barneveld who drops out.

He added: “What is interesting for me here is there is an asterisk hanging over the head of Raymond van Barneveld.

“Because he has only won one World Championship in the PDC and four in the BDO.

“The PDC didn’t have just Phil Taylor, they had a lot of the world’s best at the time. So those World Championships could potentially be questioned.”
